rememory (2020)

rememory (2020, project kalahati) consists of photographs and prose created in reflection of stories about the philippines from my childhood told by lucy, a filipina migrant who raised me. the stories recall her experiences growing up in an island province and deeply impacted how i came to understand the homeland from my position in the u.s. the project engages the vital space of the ‘between’ within diasporic contexts and explores the transformative power of relationships, storytelling, and imagination in shifting our ideas about belonging and place. recounting memories of memories--lucy’s memory through my own--rememory embraces the radical potential of inherited narratives as vessels upon which we return...
